Anonymous IP:71.148.49.20 | 2007-09-23 05:06:56
ugh...some of that stuff is hard to swallow....
damn!! - wouw! IP:190.56.82.130 | 2007-11-23 11:46:09
its just incredible your wack taste of music, you shouldnt even rank bands and performers like those, they are the garbage of great music like nirvana or the chili peppers!!
my god!
Ryan - It is not about taste IP:129.2.175.87 | 2007-12-14 15:40:26
This is a list of POP songs guys, some alternative was pop but most of it wasn't - even if it was way better, I know I know most of this is absolute crap...but as far as the list of POP 90s goes, its pretty dam inclusive
Jane - I agree IP:66.116.41.3 | 2008-02-03 15:30:07
Hello?!?!
These are classics.
I'm not sure where you are all coming from.
This WAS the 90's.
Being a 90's teen, I think I'd know.
Rock wasn't the 90's.
Cheesey songs were.
Even though we hate them we can't help but sing along.
Ev - I agree as well!!! IP:70.238.143.215 | 2008-02-04 09:55:11
What is wrong with you people??!!! These songs were what the 90's were all about! It was cheesey, emotional, meaningful songs that had everyone who could hear singing along! I was a teenager in the nineties and I have to say that I would not have had the music any other way. I still love all those songs. Perhaps you should explore music that is outside of the "here and now" box. You might actually learn a thing or two about real music. You know, when the artists singing the songs were also the one's writing them.
Dr. NRG - Man this list hurts just looki IP:201.170.178.145 | 2008-02-18 15:20:59
The only two songs I like from the whole list are Duran Duran's, but if you are gonna make a tru pop list, then you gotta include Backstreet Boys, Matchbox 20, which I yet have to see appear in one of your lists and Justin's Gay boy band...what were they called N-Dick? ha ha!
jasmine - nice song dude IP:202.79.62.27 | 2008-02-27 02:13:02

Some of you people complaining how "shit" all these bands were.
obviously don't understand good music..
No matter how old a song/band might be, most are excellent artists with a lot of talent.
Now excuse me if you people only listen to stuff these days, which no offence must are doing it for the love of the money not the music, and half the bands these days sound like utter fucking crap!!
Ohh and just incase one of you start to say im a 40 year old still living in the 70's.
I just so happen to be a 17 year old girl, who knows good music when she hears it..
this list sucks - this list sucks IP:69.139.230.71 | 2008-03-04 20:06:48
...
2nd worst thing to happen to music: duran duran
worst thing to happen to music: you
ummm... - yeah... IP:151.196.6.117 | 2008-03-13 20:28:29
so most of the songs are good "pop" songs, but what about george michael?? i mean, "freedom '90" and "faith" were two of the best pop songs of that decade and they cant crack the top 100?? so sad...and the fact that michael jackson's first song on the list is "they dont care about us"?? damn, what about "billy jean", "beat it", or even "the way you make me feel"??

but this song brought back a lot of memories! thanks for the good times! lol
The Rock Czar - Wrong Decade IP:68.48.35.138 | 2008-03-14 10:17:12
You're right these are all good songs... problem is that this a top 90s pop songs list. Four of the songs you listed are from the 80s. Faith and The Way You Make Me Feel are from 1987, Billie Jean and Beat It are from 1983. Check out my top 75 pop songs of the 80s to see some of those songs.

Rhiannon - Wake Up! IP:70.248.187.72 | 2008-03-27 17:35:29
I grew up listening to this stuff, in fact I was a teenager during the late 90's and this is what was popular. Sure its missing NSYNC but yet has Backstreet Boys on it but everyone is entitled to a few flaws. Other then that its a great list. P.S The title say top POP list of the 90's so anyone who is complainig about how it sucks cause it does not have Nirvana or Red Hot Chili Peppers . . . HELLO they are not pop and apparently you can't read!
B of QS - TAKE A LOOK AT REALITY! IP:219.88.58.67 | 2008-04-11 13:49:35
All of you are completely clueless about what music is all about-especially the 1990s. In truth a REAL list will contain "quality sounds" not rubbish. You want a real list of the best of pop in the 1990s? Here it is:

1) Radiohead-No Surprises
2) Duran Duran-Ordinary World
3) Chesney Hawkes-The One And Only
4) The Mutton Birds-Anchor Me
5) Fool's Garden-Lemon Tree

There's your official top 5 folks. Good tracks that are "PROPER SONGS" not meaningless jiggles. Just accept it none of you guys have any understanding about what music is about. So take my list of the best 90s pop songs and accept it because this list is the official taste of great songs from the best decade in history. Enough said. END OF STORY!
The Rock Czar - Hilarious IP:68.48.35.138 | 2008-04-13 09:14:13
Gotta give him one thing, he's mighty confident for someone who apparently got dropped on his head several times as a baby...

Jehudi Grant - He's right! IP:125.236.44.48 | 2008-04-14 13:30:59
B of QS is right you know. Try listening to some of Duran Duran's music. He may seem a bit over confident but he's definitley got a good point.
The Rock Czar - I have IP:206.196.188.56 | 2008-04-14 13:59:28
Try rereading this list. Duran Duran owns the number 7 and number 26 song on it. I think that's very fair.

TRC
Jehudi Grant - I rephrase my statement. IP:125.236.44.42 | 2008-04-14 20:44:47
I can see that two songs are included but look at the list made by B of QS. Ordinary World is at no.2 not way down at no.26.
Jehudi Grant - Thank you. IP:125.236.44.42 | 2008-04-14 20:55:03
This is a thank you on your site to the B of QS for hopefully giving everybody a reality check. This guy speaks true. Why bother with meaningless jiggles when you can listen to great pop songs like the ones on his top 5. i have listened to his 5 songs and really adore them all. Especially Ordinary World
Alyssa is amazing! - All of the pop songs that's n IP:204.108.231.3 | 2008-04-29 13:29:15
I think all of the pop songs are retarded I'm into more of R&b hip hop an dthat crap.

I love you Carsen!♥
sunboy - wtf? IP:69.141.190.79 | 2008-05-07 08:08:58
horrible, horrible, horrible list. you should be ashamed of yourself.
John S - Knuckles IP:68.54.255.40 | 2008-05-13 01:18:35
DUDE...Where the fuck is my Wonderwall? Not to mention James - Laid, and numerous others. Half the songs on there are garbage. I won't squawk about Frozen being on the list, but #1? The #2 song is pathetic, and it doesn't get much better. Rip this shit up and start over.
Anonymous - Not pop! IP:125.236.44.44 | 2008-05-29 20:03:15
Wonderwall is not a pop song for the information of John S (you mommy's boy).

Well Rock Czar I quite agree with this list but why is Ordinary World only at number 26?
Pop Czar - Everybody calm down IP:219.88.58.111 | 2008-06-06 18:53:45
People, people please. I don't see the point in arguing with the Rock Czar's list. It's inaccurate anyway. Besides, wouldn't it be more fitting to review the best songs of 90s pop as written by the POP czar, not the ROCK czar?

Now, as the pop czar I could easily submit an enormous top 1000 list but that's bound to cause inconvenience so I will limit it to a top ten.

Best of 90s Pop by "The Pop Czar". Okay, here goes:

1 Ordinary World-Duran Duran (1993)
2 Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart-Marc Almond & Gene Pitney (1990)
3Killer-Adamski (1990)
4 To The Moon And Back-Savage Garden (1997)
5 Heavenly Pop Hit-The Chills (1990)
6 Alone-BeeGees (1997)
7 The One And Only-Chesney Hawkes (1991)
8 Lemon Tree-Fool's Garden (1997)
9 Let Forever Be-The Chemical Brothers (1999)
10 OMC-How Bizarre (1996)
DD Fan - Ordinary World IP:122.57.94.127 | 2008-06-11 21:52:21
Okay. I may not give you credit for How Bizarre but most of whats left is good. Ordinary World should absolutley be there.

I didn't think the BeeGees were around in the 90s. But they were. The Still Waters album is good.
pessimystica - it DOES say pop..... IP:99.14.54.231 | 2008-06-16 01:41:11
does it not??? whether any of admit to liking any of these songs (present or only then) or not. i was a 90s teen too, so i (unfortunately) heard a lot of these & can prolly still sing along to many of them... although luckily i outgrew many of them too when i turned to the ROCK side (ie, BS Britney, LEN, others). i'd add a bunch more here, like some R&B (ie, En Vogue) that was still considered "pop", as well as some dance-pop #'s like Deee-Lite. & speaking of "Vogue", Madonna's is missing...
