1998 fromally introduced one of my most hated periods of music- nu-metal. Bands like Korn, Kid Rock, and the awful Godsmack were becoming increasingly popular and I was shying further and further away from mainstream rock. Many of the best songs of 1998 were attributed to one hit wonder alternative bands like Fastball, Semisonic, Athenaeum, The Flys and the Tuesdays. My increased revulsion with mainstream rock also led me to current favorites like Neutral Milk Hotel, Remy Zero, and others. Indeed with every year from 1998 thereon after you will notice a larger and larger exodus to Indie Rock on my part.
