Music's decline was pretty obvious by 1997. However not all the music from 1997 was bad. OK Computer, one of the best albums ever came out in 1997. Also Third Eye Blind's title record came out this year. Foo Fighter's The Colour and the Shape was another good record. There were also underrated records by the Verve, Marcy Plaground, and Days of the New. All in all though, bad albums like Be Here Now by Oasis, Reload by Metallica, Live's Secret Samadhi, and the rise of poser post grunge groups like Creed made 1997 a bad year for music.

I can't believe You have a problem with Creed. I was right there with ya on these list's of your's, but you're an idiot! My Own Prison is ROCK at it Finest.

You might want to rephrase your statement 1997 was not a bad year for music at all in fact it was one of the best years for music in history. You should agree with me for the following reasons:

1. Many greats that you've included in the top 50 include, Tubthumping, Let Down, To The Moon And Back, Sex and Candy, Song 2 and others.

2. It was certainly not a year for music decline. Music was massive in this year.

3. Gee, aren't Karma Police and Bitter Sweet Symphony from 1997. I could be wrong but both of those songs were your no.1 song of all time at some stage. And Karma Police used to be my favourite song too.

Man I wrote that message almost a year ago when I just started this site. My musical taste has really changed a lot since then. I criticized music that year because mainstream rock (which I was all about a year ago) started sucking around '97. However I didn't realize all the amazing indie records that hailed from 1997. I definitely retract my statement though. Unlike a lot of people I'm not going to erase my comment however. I find it really interesting and funny to go back and see my taste progress. Thanks for paying attention though. The Rock Czar is about to graduate... and then comes some massive site updating.
