1996, the alternative movement is in full swing with one of my favorite songs of all time- One Headlight by the Wallflowers. 1996 started a marked decrease in the quality of music overall, however. Many good artists had mediocre or weak records, like Pinkerton by Weezer, Down on the Upside by Soundgarden, Evil Empire by Rage, Load by Metallica and Bush's Razorblade Suitcase. However some great albums came out this year, including favorite's like Sublime's title record (slightly overrated in my book, but still good), Bringing Down the Horse by the Wallflowers, AIC's Unplugged album, and Aenima by Tool.

I can see several timelesss classics of 1996 that have been excluded from this list. Most notably:

How Bizarre by OMC
Spaceman by Babylon Zoo
Firestarter by Prodigy.
