Cut off your mullet, man. This crap went out with spandex pants and ammo belts. Or have you been locked in a closet since 1989?
Theo Theopolous - Good List IP:71.220.221.241 | 2008-03-28 23:55:33
Layne Staley forever! AIC still rocks, but there is definitely something lacking.
Bronco IP:205.188.116.141 | 2007-12-25 15:33:05
This is the best list for vocalists I've ever seen. Maynard should be #1 but loving the rest.
Sudhir IP:210.7.70.46 | 2007-12-27 07:18:21
Freddie Mercury
Axl Rose
These two names belong at the top.
NorthBound - Pfft. IP:89.241.183.26 | 2008-05-16 21:05:05
If you like having your ears systematically abused then Freddie Mercury must be awesome. For none ear raping people. No. Hell no.

Robert Plant, however, should be up there
Chris R. IP:76.186.145.32 | 2008-01-05 01:41:46
I don't know how Chino Moreno of the Deftones was left off. He has the best voice ever in rock! From his loud screaming to his calm mellow voice. He should be #1!
Mike G IP:75.155.116.121 | 2008-02-09 21:32:05
Layne Staley is clearly the most underated vocalist ever! Listen to Mad Season and tell me it doesn't send chills down your spine The entire Jar of Flies album, and of course Dirt, one of the best albums ever, Layne rips it up man.R.I.P Layne. Axl Rose is nothing, a flash in the pan! It was Slash's Band!
DF - Aerosmith!!!!! IP:195.229.236.247 | 2008-02-18 00:52:48
I don't see Steven Tyler on the list....!!! all the rest are good!!!

NorthBound - O' r'ly? IP:89.241.183.26 | 2008-05-16 21:06:48
Your name is Metal Freak, and yet you submit Corey Taylor as a great vocalist?
Get a grip man.
And listen to Testament.
In that order.
Woff - Mr. IP:77.101.144.134 | 2008-04-01 08:34:09
Kelly Jones of stereophonics is by far the best.
Woff - MR IP:77.101.144.134 | 2008-04-01 08:34:44
Kelly Jones of stereophonics is by far the best.
rocker - ozzy is old but has a range li IP:24.138.73.7 | 2008-04-04 18:54:50
Man...I agree that all of these guys are great singers..but every single one of them would sound flat on any Ozzy song. No else in rock and roll can hit those notes without screaming through snot filled gurgled throuts. Ozzy is always clear every note....No Shite...MTV voted him as #1...I'm not even much of an Ozzy fan but I agree.
Hamdiderot - citizen IP:41.224.230.122 | 2008-04-06 11:55:44
I felt estranged when i didn't found Axl Rose and Kurt Cobain. I thought everybody knew what strong voices and exciting performance they were entitled to
noquarter - this list SUCKS. IP:86.96.227.70 | 2008-04-11 09:05:53
robert plant, freddie mercury, bruce dickinson, michael matijevik, sebastian bach, geoff tate, bon scott, syd barret, roger waters, axl rose, steven tylor, mark slaughter, ozzy osbourne, gene simmons, don henley, god there's so many more i know i'm forgetting.

not one of them is in there. its people like you who claim to be a fan of rock music and destroy its image.

jackass..
Anonymous - fair list IP:99.162.176.30 | 2008-04-12 12:12:30
layne has the best range out of any vocalist ive come across and could easily match ozzy's voice... he is good at the top.. puts the most feeling into his music.. but axel rose, plant, and cobian should be on that list too.. plz
Scott - db IP:70.130.237.191 | 2008-04-12 17:08:12
your list sucks, douchebag.
Parni - Nice list IP:68.127.218.65 | 2008-04-14 14:01:53
I have to agree, Geoff Tate (Queensryche) would be in my top 10 best, also I have a soft spot for Eddie Vedder... otherwise, very nice list.
Rock Fan - Chester IP:96.232.145.251 | 2008-04-15 13:22:08
Chester Bennington from Linkin Park should be on this list. His vocal range is amazing. Most guys can't hit the notes he can yet he could also sing in a low note. Chester is one of the illest vocalists of all time.
Anonymous IP:12.216.37.149 | 2008-05-05 13:35:00
you're kidding me right? you need to get out more. No guys can hit what he does? Okay i'm sorry, but yes they can. The highest I've heard him go in full voice is a high A. I could name at least 6 singers that go 3/4 to 1 full octave above him in the same register.
hm - Close, but... IP:131.107.0.101 | 2008-04-17 13:50:09
Ugh, Paul Banks???

Also, Mike Patton should be top 3. Faith no more FTW!

wow. this is pretty rad.
i would have gave sebastian bach from skid row a spot but other than that i think its pretty sick.
Anonymous IP:12.216.37.149 | 2008-05-05 13:34:07
are you trying to say best or greatest? I mean, I am a clasically trained singer and love rock music..if this is going by skill, then you failed miserably. I can only spot one guy on there who would deserve to be on there (Cornell, maybe).

Roy Khan of Conception, Kamelot
Geoff Tate of Queensryche
Freddie Mercury
Jeff Buckley

etc...those guys are amazing. most of the guys on your list are average at best singers.
Anonymous - Chris Cornell IP:125.236.44.44 | 2008-05-05 15:59:11
Chris Cornell is probably the best rock vocalist of all time. You only have to listen to Black Hole Sun to know that.
Lance - Axl Rose IP:125.236.44.43 | 2008-05-06 20:01:10
I actually think Axl Rose is the best vocalist but i also think the vocalists for Soundgarden and Red Hot Chilli Peppers are cool too. I have to say the creator of these lists must sure like Alice In Chains a lot.
Whitney - ... IP:76.204.212.163 | 2008-05-07 17:41:46
That list is bad. Minus John Lennon.
Seriously now, have you never heard anything classic?
Freddie Mercury has basically the best vocals in the history of music.
Axl Rose?
Bon Scott?
Even Janis Joplin and Elton John are better then half of the people you chose.
The most outstanding voices aren't mentioned.

Again, this is bad, just in case you haven't heard it enough yet.
borrrattt - freddie mercury IP:69.140.159.83 | 2008-05-07 17:45:31
freddie mercury is homosexual?

Tom Chaplin deserves to be on the list

And so does John Rzeznik
sin blin - meh IP:99.237.14.129 | 2008-05-22 13:21:31
the list is alright but i think you should get john lennon off there add someone from the 90's then change the name to the Best Rock Vocalists of the 90's...then make 60's 70's 80's and 00's as well that way more lists ...and these classic rock fuckers cant bitch anymore (well they can but you know)
ger - sure IP:190.6.194.152 | 2008-05-23 19:11:25
the best vocalist is the one of audioslave
Canticle - Limited Life IP:71.227.148.75 | 2008-05-25 18:30:03
Born in 1976 were you?
Like Sin Blin writes, this is a great list of 90's rockers, but the great vocalists go way back to Jerry Lee, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan (okay... point taken), Lennon, Garcia, and on... There are lots more lists possible.
And what about women rockers.
Nomak IP:88.210.223.35 | 2008-05-26 19:22:02

Brad Delp, anyone? Steve Perry? This list is fubared to the highest of orders.

Michael Stipe? You're kidding me, right? I can plug my nose and sing like him (as can almost anybody).

And Lennon wasn't even the best in his band.
daryll - huh? IP:89.211.4.3 | 2008-06-04 07:51:20
where the hell is axle rose, Steve Perry, Steven Tyler,Freddie Mercury....... c,mon who write this god damn list.? are you outta your mind....?
The Rock Czar - Wrong List IP:68.48.35.138 | 2008-06-04 23:25:40
I'll tell you where Axl Rose is... he is #1 on my list of most annoying lead vocalists... Steven Tyler isn't too far behind. They both suck tremendously.

Chino Moreno is THE Male voice. I have never heard anyone put that amount of emotion into their voice and still have it sound really pretty in the next breathe. Even his screams are beautiful, layered, and filled with specific emotion. I admire his bravery and the things he is willing to experiment with.
jt - ah yah! IP:71.214.233.85 | 2008-06-29 12:13:59
I'm happy that someone came to their senses and realized Layne Staley is the best rock vocalist. If you try and deny that, just listen to him sing.
