The Rock Czar - Ballads IP:69.255.249.246 | 2007-11-17 10:13:14
On this list I use the term Ballads fairly loosely. Since this isn't an 80s list, sappy love songs will not suffice. Thus, to qualify for this list a song must be slow tempo and invoke emotions of love, loss, and/or heartbreak. I have ranked the songs based on my personal taste, their popularity, their lasting appeal, their proximity to the standard definition of a ballad, and the strength of emotion that they invoke.

I actually like that Wonderwall is far up on the list. It was definitely one of the best-- as was Bittersweet Symphony. And Tonight, Tonight is one of my favorite songs of all time! There were a few more that I would have listed, but I like this list.

I thought most of the songs were well picked, not necessarily ranked that well though. Personally I feel that Black by Pearl Jam is an extremely underrated song and should be in the top 10 for sure. but thats just me...

What is the problem with people making lists that aren't acurate or relaisitc. In truth you really are just basing it on opinion without taking into consideration what a quality ballad is. A few of these songs are not good enough. Face reality! The real ballads of the 1990s were great songs. I can see you have a few mentioned here but the list does need tweaking to be accurate rather than just basing it entirely on opinion. That's why i have come all the way from my music studio to come and give people a relaity check on what the real top lists are on topic such as this. Here is a real top 5 list of the best ballads of the best decade in music history:

1 Guns N Roses-November Rain
2Soundgarden-Black Hole sun
3Radiohead-No Surprises
4 Red Hot Chilli Peppers Under The Bridge
5-Duran Duran-Ordinary World

Now that you have seen a PROPER list you can stop making lists that are not the official taste of 90s ballad lovers. Some of these songs may have been popular but how many are quality? Some of these bands are simply not good enough while others are too obscure to make it in a real list. I hope you hvae found this advice helpful and if you ever want to make a top list again, i'll be there to make sure everybody gets the accurate results they come to view.

THIS DISCUSSION IS NOW CLOSED! ENOUGH SAID!

It cracks me up to see how worked up people get over these lists. Musical taste and perception is purely subjective to one's opinion. In other words, there is no fact involved. What I may like may not be what you like, and vice versa. That doesn't mean either of us are wrong, or right. Just observe and offer suggestions or offer different opinions on why you think a different song would be better in a certain place, but don't bash the guy for having an opinion.
