Obviously done by someone who knows nothing of the European metal scene.....friggin Nickleback? And no Iron Maiden? C'mon they're the Godfathers of metal, with over 75 000 000 albums sold worldwide. So they aren't big in America...that means they'll never be commercialized into crap rock. Please don't call it best 100 metal songs if you're going to ignore Maiden, Priest, Slayer, et al....

there should be a strictly "Metal" list. too much of the Hard Rock overlaps with the Grunge list.

this list seems to reflect "Top 100 that the general populace has likely been exposed to via music video or radio play" rather than "Top 100 by people who enjoy this type of music"... seriously... Nickleback?

not that there is anything wrong with the songs on your list, just the title i suppose. metal IS pantera, slayer etc. but music and their definition of what group it lies in is in your own opinion. if u consider slayer and radiohead in the same category then there would be some serious problems. but all in all i guess the title of this is disturbing to some by not including stuff like slipknot etc.

I guess my taste in Metal is more on the poppy side. I know all these bands and I didnt ignore them. I just don't like their music too much. I know the Nickelback choice is slightly embarrassing. My rationale is that since this was the first big Nickelback song, it was way before they remade this song 50 times for their next 4 albums. Nickelback is indeed atrocious, I admit however to kind of liking this song.

nirvana, aic and smashing pumpkins is not classified as hard rock or metal. they should be replaced with some pantera and iron maiden maybe with some ac/dc too because thats harder then half of the crap thing you put together and decided to call hardrock/metal list

Korn, Disturbed, Slipknot, In Flames, Mudvayne, Atreyu, Godsmack, Sevendust, Damageplan, Pantera, Black Label Society, Drowning Pool Sepultura, etc...

Perhaps, I wanted to avoid getting my house egged, or maybe I realized that my taste in metal wasn't appreciated too much (it was a little of both). I underestimated the resolve of 'metalheads' all over the world. You guys really united behind a cause, congrats, I am not Metal Czar after all.

Dont hassle this dude who put a list together, you try and do it its pretty hard, youre always gonna overlook certain songs. Duality is slipknots best song in terms of hard rock, the rest of thier best songs are definitivly metal.

metallica, slipknot, disturbed, Marilyn Manson, and megadeth is not hard rock. they go under the category of heavy metal and thrash metal. Too many not well known songs by alice in chains. Let's stick with the classics like Man in a Box, Would?, Down in a Hole, Rooster, Angry Chair, No Excuses, Heaven Beside Me, Them Bones, Godsmack and I Stay Away. Jesus Christ Pose number 2? Where's Black Hole Sun and Spoonman. Where's Fall to Pieces. Killing in the Name is RATM's best song, why is it not in the top 20 at least. Bullet With Butterfly Wings is not that good of a song, but it should be on the list, on the top 20, I would put Rocket, Rhinoceros, Mayonaise on there. I would put Come Out and Play and The Kids Aren't Alright on there. I wouldn't put Aenima on there. I would replace it with Parabola and Stinkfist. i would put Sex Type Thing in the top 10 definately and big empty in the top 20. Good placement for all the hits from Linkin Park, Staind, Nickelback and Creed junk. They deserve to be in above the top 20. I'm not a fan of Incubus, but I'd go with that one song that's no 9. I would put freak on a leash by KoRn in the top 30 somwhere. Overall, this list isn't bad.

I can see where you are coming from but I do have a couple issues. Offspring is really more of a pop-punk band, not a good fit for a hard rock list really. Mayonaise , Rhinoceros, Big Empty are really all somewhat more psychadelic in nature. All the others are pretty valid arguments. But it is my site!!

Megadeth, Metallica, Disturbed, Slipknot and Tool are metal bands. Get that into your head. Hard Rock bands are A Perfect Circle, Staind, Velvet Revolver, Breaking Benjamin. Take off all that Grunge and Alternative rock like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins. They go in alternative rock and grunge section. Get mid of all metal.

By The way this site sucks. You put their most overrated songs number 1. Alice in Chain's best song is no excuses. lol. I really like Alice in Chains, I love the album dirt.

Put some korn in their too.

For hard rock you should put in bands like Motorhead, Guns n' Roses, Motley Crue, etc...

But Nirvana, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Incubus... jajajaja it's very funny.
